Real-Time Video Appointments
When you’re unable to come into our office – for whatever reason – consider the convenience of telemedicine.
You can arrange a virtual doctor visit with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Charles Toulson for your initial appointment or for post-op and follow-up appointments.
Telemedicine visits are ideal in these cases, whether you’re in the early stages of considering a hip replacement or knee replacement or if you’ve already had your surgery and need to periodically check in with Dr. Toulson so he can monitor your progress during recovery.
How It Works
It’s simple, really. All you need is an internet-connected, video-enabled device. Most often, patients use their smartphone – although a laptop may provide a better viewing experience.
Then, you just call and tell us you’d like to set up a telemedicine visit. We’ll do the rest. This includes sending you a link and instructions for how to connect with Dr. Toulson at the time of your appointment. The virtual visit will be conducted over a HIPAA-compliant platform for your privacy. You can attend the appointment anywhere you feel comfortable: at home, your office, etc.
Helpful Tips Before Your First Telemedicine Appointment
You may want to consider the following tips:
- Consider taking a “trial run” by following the instructions you were given, using your device of choice. In some cases, you may need to download an app before you can proceed. This can help ensure the technology on your end, including your webcam, is working as needed for the visit.
- If requested by Dr. Toulson, submit any necessary paperwork or test results ahead of time.
- Write down any questions you want to ask the doctor.
- The day of your telemedicine appointment, log in 10 – 15 minutes ahead of time to allow for any unexpected delays.
- Ensure you are located in a quiet, private area so that you are most comfortable during the visit.
